Sculptural Installation
One instagram page, one alter ego. I consider myself abstracted, caught in objectification. There is no real persona online, just the simplification of it. Wondering what material qualities can be used to recreate the story of one’s online profile, what traces stay when a concept like one’s character is woven through the simplification of the internet’s ideals and stereotypes, and then explained through the lines of material and objects. In a text by Rob Horning (Perpetual Provisional Selves, Published in Excellences & Perfections by Amalia Ulman), he explains that Instagram is a platform filled with ego’s turned into stereotypes. We all consider ourselves to be authentic, but fear the idea of being judged by an other.
